About

XLR Radio was born on 24th June 2017, with a launch at 3pm on that day from its head office studios in Kent with all the owners in attendance.
We aim to bring to you music from the Decades you like to hear 24 hours a day seven days a week. With the latest news from Radio News Hub at least every 2 hours every day and night.
Our dedicated owners and presenters who are unpaid volunteers will bring to you great choices in music through live and syndicated shows every day throughout the year.
We hope that you will enjoy the musical sounds of our station and will recommend family and friends to listen and join us.

On February 21, 2026, XLR Radio refreshed its brand with a new website and logo. The logo features three upward-pointing bars—symbolizing a global broadcast—paired with two sound desk faders representing the music and the presenter. The colour scheme ties the elements together, with "XLR" matching the faders and "Radio" matching the bars.

At XLR Radio, we’ve always championed emerging artists and songwriters. We provide a platform to showcase their talent by featuring them on our shows and keeping listeners informed about new releases. We’re committed to regular airplay to ensure their music reaches the widest possible audience.

Support Us

To date, the station's operational costs have been personally subsidized by the owners to ensure we remain on air. However, as our reach has grown, so too have the overheads. Between licensing, hosting, and technical maintenance, it now costs approximately £350 per month to keep XLR Radio operational.

As we look toward the future, we want to ensure the station remains sustainable. Our owners can no longer personally cover the full extent of these costs, and we are now reaching out to our community for support.

How You Can Help

Our goal is to ensure XLR Radio celebrates its 10th anniversary and many more to follow. We are asking our presenters and supporters to consider a contribution toward these essential running costs:

  • Operational Insight: With our current setup, the cost of keeping the station live breaks down to approximately £88 per week.
  • Flexible Giving: While the figure above provides a benchmark, any donation—large or small—makes a significant difference in keeping our broadcasts live.

All of our presenters are dedicated volunteers who already give so much of their time and talent. We thank you for your continued passion and for considering a financial contribution to help secure our home on the airwaves.
